Decided to go with a Russell Hobbs toaster due to having had an excellent one many years ago. The Velocity had the features I wanted (Reheat button, Frozen etc) and looked nice, would fit well on bench. I don't like to write bad reviews but I'm just disappointed with it. Have played around with different settings, toasted from fresh, frozen etc. It doesn't toast evenly from top to bottom - light or underdone at the top, darker at the bottom and usually burns the edges. Not too bad for consistent toasting on both sides, it's just uneven (See pic). The only way I can get a decent slice is to barely toast then flip it over and toast again while watching it like a hawk.

I chose this toaster thinking, ok, i will buy a good named brand and that will be it. However, better off to stick to my cheap toaster. I cant rely on my toast outcome, sometimes the elements don't even come on. Sometimes a random function will automatically come on. Won't buy one again. Sorry Russell.

I was so utterly sick of reputed quality brand toasters turning out half toasted, anemic looking bread. I did my research and took my time. At last I found the Velocity Toaster and the copious positive reviews on two trusted and authenticated sites. I’m now enjoying evenly toasted bread that’s crisp without being dry and is toasted beautifully in the advertised time of one minute! Phew! I’m happy - sometimes you can experience perfection.....
