Great cutter but soft, blonde jaffles.
I had the 'original original' back in the 70s. I remember toasty brown jaffles that were crisp and crunchy. I saw this jaffle maker in the shops and thought it was time to rekindle that memory. Unfortunately, it doesn't meet expectation. I'm not sure whether I have a faulty one or not but the jaffles are soft, barely toasted after 10minutes of cooking and certainly not how I remember the OG was. The plus is the size of the plates and the cutter which cleanly cuts the jaffles in half. But I'm missing that toasty goodness despite following the instructions. Lack lustre results. I'm not sure there would be enough heat in the plates to cook the apple turnovers that I used to cook with my original one either. I haven't tried this yet.
Love my jaffles
The Original '74 makes great jaffles and has a non stick coating that is actually non stick.
Breville makes good products with great warranty support and the Original '74 is no exception.
