Disappointing product
Bought this to match other Ilve products in my kitchen - wish I hadn't as it is clunky , it is a mission just to open and close the door . Very over-priced for what you get .
Ilve microwave
I own an ilve oven, which has been brilliant. I purchased the ilve microwave thinking it would be the same quality.
It is not, the knob is plastic and do not think it will last long without breaking or losing the chrome paint. The door does not open fully, only to 90 • so makes it difficult to extract food.
I was told this model had a grill option, which is not the case. I was comparing this to the Smeg which does have a grill. Should of gone with the Smeg.
Overpriced
When I purchased this microwave, I had understood from the specs that I was buying a European made model (Italy) from a company reputed for build quality and therefore the price was relatively higher. However, after setting it up I noticed on the back plate that Italy was not the country of manufacture after all, rather it was made in P.P.R. China.
There is nothing to distinguish this Ilve from comparable products made in Asia for quite a bit cheaper. It functions OK at a level similar to any other microwave but I see nothing different that justifies its inflated price. Very disappointing.
