Save $500 & Buy the 4.4Kw Dimplex DC15 instead
Having purchased the DC17 5Kw air conditioner as I was looking for the most powerful portable unit I selected the 5Kw $1285 unit as it is the biggest. The unit arrived and after I set it up I was surprised as it didnt seem to be as cold or make as much air flow as a 10 year old 3.5kw it replaced. As it seemed inadequate, I then decided to upgrade my bedroom AC also and purchased the smaller 4.4Kw SC15 Dimplex for $785 - it makes so much more cold air than the bigger unit and the front vents mean much better distribution of air flow. Save $500 and buy the smaller unit!
