Solid, reliable Gas oven
Purchased to replace old Westinghouse Gas oven which had finally given up after 15 years which I think is a pretty normal age span for one of the older models. Ideally I would have purchased an electric oven as opposed to gas however it was too complicated from a rewiring perspective as we live in an old 1920s unit.
The new oven heats up quickly and is cooking to perfection. We have baked, roasted and slow cooked and everything has turned out perfectly. I think Westinghouse ovens are reliable and a good choice for gas.
Disappointed
We bought this oven a few weeks ago to replace our older Westinghouse gas oven.
We were very happy with the old oven and decided to purchase the more recent version of the same model.
We're less happy with the new version. When switching off this oven after use, all surfaces around the oven (cabinet walls to the side of the oven and cooktop above the oven) heat up to point where it's impossible to touch them with burning yourself.
Our old oven did not have that problem.
The only way to avoid it is by leaving the fan running for 20-30 mins after switching the oven off. We didn't have to do that with the old oven.
We understand there are more expensive Westinghouse ovens where the fan stays on after use and switches off automatically when the oven has cooled down. We feel this feature should be standard on all ovens as it this appliance doesn't appear completely safe without it.
We don't recommend it and wouldn't have purchased it had we known of his issue.
We're also unlikely to buy from Appliances Online again, as we didn't receive a response when we tried contacting them after our purchase to discuss the problem.
Excellent oven had one before lasted 11 years
Bought this 6 weeks ago working sweet best thing didn’t have to clean the old one ...love new ovens !!
