I bought the base and the matching mattress, too! They are very comfortable, and I expect them to remain so for years. I am amazed that I hung onto my old base and mattress for so long, and I'm glad I got rid of them.
I was a bit surprised at the height of the new base/mattress combination, but as it is the same height as my bedside table, it is very satisfactory.
