Too quiet?
We have had our Schwiegen extractor for 4 years now, and love it. It is so quiet that we often forget that it is on (perhaps update the software to time out after an hour or so?). We did notice once that it was not drawing exhaust, only to find that some creature in our roof had eaten the ducting to the fan! Easily replaced and no problems since.
Very quiet and powerful. Looks great
Great looking powerful rangehood that is super quiet even on the highest speed. Our smoke alarms do not go off anymore even with wok cooking. The only downside is that the filters need cleaning a lot more than other rangehoods I have owned. If they are not cleaned every 2-3 weeks then they drip oil over the stovetop. The filters can apparently be put in the dishwasher however I was advised by the sales rep that it can change the appearance of the metal. I have only handwashed/soaked to prevent this as I want my rangehood to stay looking good. I would be interested to know how much the appearance of the filters change by putting them in the dishwasher as it is a bit of a nuisance have to do this. Despite this filter issue it is the best rangehood I have owned.
Disappointing! Sably, not as good as I'd hoped.
I purchased this silent exhaust fan fan to replace a far noiser and less efficient fan in our open plan kitchen/ family room. The Schweigen is very quiet. The Schweigen is quieter running on max speed than the fan it replaced when running at its lowest speed. The lights are great and the blue accent lights are very cool.
Unfortunately tho, the Schweigen doesn't do too well in copping with the heat and fumes when the oven door is opened, causing the smoke detectors to alarm which in turn sends my charming spouse into a low earth orbit! She has stage 4 cancer and one of the side effects of the cancer drug she's on is to raise her anxiety levels. As a result I still have to unplug the smoke detector in the room whenever we use the oven.
Further, even when set to maximum, the fan does not unfortunately remove the cooking smells so we get to enjoy the smell of a roast cooked in the oven for at least another 24 hours after we've eaten the meal. Fortunately it's a pleasant smell!
Not the best result from what must be one of the dearest 900mm exhaust fans on the market.
