Material Notes

The base of the Ewer light is made from European oak, a slow growing hardwood native tree to Europe. It has a golden to light brown colouring with a variety of grain patterns. Oak is very hard, durable wood and gets darker and richer with age. Pinch uses a protective white oil finish to allow the timber to age gracefully without heavy discolouration and withstand daily spillage.
European oak can display a variety of characteristics from straight grain to large swirling crown cut grain Medullary rays and small 'Cats paw' knots, all of which are an intrinsic and natural part of the grain pattern.
