They do work.
I have tried to aim some small speakers at the ceiling but they do nothing compared to these speakers. They really do throw the the ceiling and bounce it back down. I think there are some psychoacoustics involved but they are another step forward in home theatre sound. The reason for 4 stars is the price. They are well made but you get little for your money.
