Out of sight until it’s needed
This is our first in-counter range, but it won’t be our last. Stows away so nicely so that we don’t have any visible range hood within our sight-lines in our open plan living area.
Easy to operate, works great, and the vent sends the air outside under the house.
Pretty good
This downdraft has it's pros and cons. If you're putting it in an area where an overhead rangehood isn't possible, this unit is a good price and works relatively well. It will never get 100% of the cooking smoke, and its efficacy is dependent on breeze and wind from internal fans. To open the unit you have to firmly press down on the actual unit not a button so might not be suitable for elderly or people with disabilities. This feature actually became faulty and I had to have the entire unit replaced because the technician had no experience with this italian product. Worth considering an extended warranty when buying as noone will be able to fix it in the future. The charcoal filters (that are recommended to replace every 3 months depending on use) cost $130-$149 which is a complete rip off but you can't get generic ones. Overall it was my only choice as my cooktop is in a kitchen island with skylights above and an overhead range wouldn't be possible. It also was the only affordable downdraft that wasn't $3k. This downdraft sucks the steam/smoke 50%-80% of the time and throws the filtered air threw your cabinet kicks, pretty neat. I am happy with it generally but yeah has some annoying cons. Hope this review helps as I never got to read a review to help with my decision.
Still wating to be installed.
I cannot as yet rate this product on functionality because i am waiting on it to be installed, but do say that it comes with absolutely no installation instructions. I am going to get an electrician to install it, but even he would need instructions. Lets hope the rest of the experience is better.
