If you like tepid milk on your breakfast cereal and have a fondness for warm beer - then the Chiq 550L is ideal for you. Standing like Darth Vader peeping around the kitchen cupboards ready to pounce - the Chiq 550L freezer part worked fine, but the fridge compartment kept icing up at the back (even on the ‘normal’ setting) and didn’t keep food sufficiently cold. (My icy stares are colder than its best efforts). The fact that the internal door layout was different to the photos sent by Chiq to Appliances Online for advertising purposes, paled into insignificance considering the fridge outright refused to keep food sufficiently cool, as did the fact that three glass shelves are insufficient for a fridge of that size. I’m unsure as to what the strange intermittent croaking sound actually was, although it could well have been the fridge itself saying; “Luke - I am your Father,” when I opened the door. After a few days of it operating at around 10 degrees C - Darth was swapped out for the white 550L Storm Trooper model in the hope that it was just a fault in the black model, but to no avail. I now have a completely different make of fridge. I must say though, that throughout the whole ordeal - Appliances Online were GREAT, so this review is solely for the Chiq 550L black Darth Vader fridge/freezer, and its 550L Storm Trooper white cousin... both of which come complete with one miniature-sized Oompa Loompa ice cube tray.
