I wanted a grill big enough for two steaks of reasonable size, and used a temperature probe. While the dimensions are clear in the product description, I wasn't prepared for just how big the grill would look on the bench. I could easily cook six well sized steaks on this grill. Probably eight "Supermarket" sized steaks. It is heavy as well. I use the probe every time. The steak holds a lot more juices than when cooked under a gas grill. So far, cooking just one steak at a time, the drip tray has never received a drop. Wiping the plates with a damp sponge is all that has been required afterward. I think I would have preferred two ribbed plates. I am thinking about buying an extra flat and ribbed plate so that I can use two flat or two ribbed plates. So, if you want properly cooked steaks, get this grill.

I had the Breville entry level grill for a few years and was used everyday in place of a toaster. We upgraded to the smart grill and roast cooked the nicest eye fillet ever to perfection in a matter of minutes with the help of the probe. It’s also great for toasting nuts, toasted sandwiches and reheating pizza. Clean up is easier than we could have imagined with the removable plates. I thought the additional weight would be a problem but it moves easily around on the bench compared to the entry level grill. Highly recommend

Good power, good design. Easy to detach plates. One thing to improve though - there should be some simple borders around the space between plates when they're in closed state. Which would prevent the fat from spreading all over the grill itself, and all over around the grill up to ~20cm around it. It would be much cleaner after each use, requiring to clean only the plates and all that is INSIDE the borders, not all the grill body, its control knobs, display, and everything around the grill itself... Other than that - very well made device.
