During late February, I thought it was time to update my old LG Washer Dryer combo. I'd had the unit for around 10 years and it had served me remarkably well and was still working, but it had become extremely noisy and the whole house seemed to vibrate when on spin. I looked around at LG's and various other brands and was quite interested in the Bosch WVH28440AU. I found only a few retailers who sold it and online reviews were a little scarce, so it was a bit of a gamble. In the end I proceeded as Bosch have a pretty good name and reputation. Firstly to Appliances Online. I had never used them before, but I'd come close on several occasions. The timeline went like this: 20th Feb: Ordered item online with an ETA of around the 28th Feb. 21st Feb: Update email saying that there was a delay (out of stock) but would attempt to complete on time. 22nd Feb: Order update with the date and time of delivery on the 2nd March as they'd sourced a unit from Perth. 2nd March: Delivery took place. On time with a 30 min warning call prior. The guys came in, un-boxed the unit, took away my old unit, took away all the packaging and foam and put it into place in the laundry. They also offered to connect up the hoses which I declined as I had some other requirements, but the offer was appreciated. To add to the above great service, the price was literally hundreds of dollars less then the nearest competitor and that was including delivery. Secondly, the WVH28440AU washer dryer combo. I'm very happy with it after using it for about 5 months now. I don't use the dryer function that often, but it's great to have on those emergency occasions. The machine is quiet and stable (very little vibration). The functions take a little getting used to but I do find that you generally have 3 or 4 cycles that you use 99% of the time anyway. It has some cool features like a 'shirt' option which apparently end a gentle cycle with some kind of steaming/fluffing to make ironing easier. Something for people who have never used a washer/dryer before - the 'dry' cycle is different to what you may be used to. If you dry a load of towels in a regular dryer, they come out dry, hot and fluffy. If you use a washer dryer (and my LG did this too, so it's not an issue with the WVH28440AU) the clothes come out hot and steamy. You take them out and the steam dissipates and they are about 90% dry and a little 'limp' for want of a better term! You wont get that dry and fluffy feel. I believe this is because washer/dryers use heating of the drum with hot water which produces a hot humid heat as opposed to a 'real' dryer which blows hot dry air. Or something! To summarize - Appliances Online were fantastic and I'll use them again. The Bosch WVH28440AU is fantastic but if you've never used a combo unit, adjust your expectations on drying items accordingly!
